About the Photographer - thechromelens

Kristi Martin

I am a daughter, wife, sister, and mother and also a Photographer. I truly enjoy capturing the candid moments in peoples’ lives and transforming them into timeless heirlooms that will be enjoyed for generations. I consider a photograph more than just a snapshot of a moment, but an intimate moment that is frozen in time conveying a story and emotion. I treat each session as a story or journey that is captured in still images. To achieve this, I meet personally with each client to understand their story and in turn transform that story into heirloom keepsakes  through the lens of my camera.

A bit about me… I have my BFA in Studio Art and have been an artist my entire life. While art is something some people do, it is part of me and who I am. I enjoy cooking with my husband and our young son, Memphis, teaching yoga, taking motorcycle rides, gardening, and freedom. I love anything vintage. Old things always tell stories. I over accessorize daily and consider fashion a outward expression. I love wide open fields of any kind, dust, tumbleweeds, skulls, and old metal.

My favorite word is Native. To me it means at some point you have belonged somewhere. Through the lens of my camera I strive to capture that sense of belongingness in my portrait work.

With the inspiration of the following quotes, I felt the courage to become and truly live my life as an artist...

“Some people hear their own inner voices with great clearness. And they live by what they hear. Such people become crazy, or they become legend.”

-Jim Harrison, Poet

“A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people. “

-Annie Leibovitz, American Portrait Photographer
